Gallery: Art with CSS

The cascading style sheets (CSS) allow merging the technology and the art of the modern web typography. To illustrate this I created several examples where CSS technology is used for producing or emulating artistic effects, and for demonstrating some possibilities of the web typography. I tested my examples with Microsoft Internet Exporer 5.5 and 6, Opera 6 and 7, Netscape 6 and 7, and with Mozilla 0.96 and higher. In general, any standard-compliant browser with good CSS1 and CSS2 support must render my examples properly. Currently, the following examples are available:

• Rectilinear Face (Oscar Schlemmer's poster, 1916)
• Bauhaus Seal #2 (Oscar Schlemmer)
• Black Circle (Kasimir Malevich)
• Black Square (Kasimir Malevich)
• Sierpinski's carpet (Waclaw Sierpinski)

Some examples (Bauhaus Seal #2, Black Circle) significantly rely on the assumption that you have the "Arial Unicode MS" font installed on your computer, otherwise you will see wrong picture. Don't bother to install the "Arial Unicode MS" — it will allow you to see all multilingual web pages, as well as my examples.
